If you're looking for something fulfilling and fun, then volunteering at BARC is something you would love. If you are a student or employee in need of certified volunteer hours we can provide that too. Here are a few ways you can help.
Socializing with the animals: You can walk the dogs or play with the cats. This is so important to the animals as it rebuilds their trust with humans and helps them enjoy the shelter whilst they wait for their new family!
Caring for the sick animals: You can help with tasks like administering medicines or cleaning out the enclosures the sick animals live in. This task is more suited for people who already have experience with cats and dogs and is great experience for aspiring veterinary volunteers!
Minor maintenance tasks: If you are handy, you can help with the minor upkeep work like fixing damaged enclosures, furniture, optimising the cat enclosures by building cat trees, putting-up shelves etc. The work never ends!
Driving animals around: We can always use help with animals that need to go or be brought back from their vet appointments, or even rescued from the streets!
Emergency rescue: If you can handle emergency rescue we can certainly use your help. We receive many requests asking us to help take an injured animal to the vet and sometimes our permanent staff are unable to do so as our volunteers are at work or occupied with other tasks.
Fostering: We need fosters for animals that are scheduled to fly out of Bahrain to their forever home. Being in a home environment helps the cat or dog showcase their true personality as they get used to being in a home after being in a shelter for a long time.
