ABOUT ME

Hii! My name is Kalena, I am a shy, sweet-natured, quietly loving little girl. I am a small to medium sized dog. My rescuers believe I was born in around June 2020. Like all the other sweet pups at the shelter, I had quite a rough beginning. I was separated from my mother at a very young age. At only 4 months old, I found myself in an unfamiliar place. I did not know where to find food, water, or even a safe place to sleep. One day I felt extra brave and wandered a little farther away from where I usually stay, I wish I hadn’t. I did not know that pack of dogs would not welcome me into their home, I am a little puppy after all and they looked just like me. They attacked me, I don’t blame them though, there is only enough food and water for so many of us. A little human boy found me, close to dead, laying on the main road, and called for help. I spent 5-6 months recovering at the vets and once I was healed and ready to leave, something tragic happened. I was happily having my lunch one day and another dog, who was recovering at the vets just like I was, broke free from his kennel and attacked me. He broke my leg and I needed surgery. I don’t blame that dog for hurting me, he was taught that attacking other dogs is the right thing to do. I think his name was Arthur. Arthur, I forgive you. I am fully healed now and I love running around in open spaces. I am a little shy at first but I will quickly warm up to you and come for a cuddle. Once I get to know you, I love nothing more than tickles and scratches. I get along well with other dogs but I will need to be slowly and gradually introduced, as I still sometimes remember what happened to me and get scared.

Suitable for a calm home. Does not require lots of space.

Previous fracture to back leg - plated. Walks as normal. Completely healed.
