ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Akamai and I am a friendly, sweet-natured, gentle boy. I had a scary start to life. I remember my mamma Makana promising my siblings and I that she’d be back shortly, she was just going around the corner looking for food. That’s when I heard the voices of men and the rattling of rusty steel cages. I immediately hid in the bush and shut my eyes. I didn’t want to see anything but all I could hear were my siblings’ cries out to mamma, then silence. My mamma returned shortly after, I’ve never seen her so distraught. Today, I am a healthy, affectionate, playful, medium-sized boy. My rescuers believe I was born around January 2021. I love welcoming visitors to the shelter and saying hello in my own shy, submissive way. I will just lay by your feet and look at you until you give me cuddles and belly rubs.
