Hi I'm Cheeky and I've been waiting a long time to be adopted

Cheeky is nine years old. Nine years… and almost all of them have been spent waiting. Waiting to be noticed. Waiting to feel safe. Waiting for a life that never really began. She has a very unique face — the kind that stops you for a second, makes you look twice. Not because it’s perfect, but because it’s hers. And if you give her a moment longer, you start to see what’s been there all along: softness, gentleness, and a quiet kind of love she’s never truly had the chance to give. Cheeky is FIV+, but that’s never been what defined her life. What defined it was fear. In the chaos of an overcrowded shelter, Cheeky didn’t stand a chance. She is too gentle, too kind, too yielding in a world where only the bold get seen. She was bullied relentlessly — pushed aside, cornered, made so afraid that she would hide for days. There were times she wouldn’t come out… not even to eat, not even to use the litter box. Imagine being so scared, for so long, that you disappear. Years of her life slipped by like that. Not because she wasn’t worthy — but because no one ever gave her the space to show who she is. When she was finally moved out and placed in a quieter area with another cat, Oliver, something changed. In safety, Cheeky softened even more. She showed us what had been buried all along: she is deeply affectionate, quietly desperate for love, the kind of cat who leans into your hand like she’s been waiting her whole life for that single touch. And maybe she has. Despite everything, Cheeky has held on to her beautiful, affectionate and gentle nature. She is easygoing, kind, and so incredibly forgiving. She didn’t grow hard. She didn’t stop loving. She just… waited. But she’s waited too long. Cheeky doesn’t need much — just what she’s never had: A calm home. A safe space. Patience. And someone who will finally see her. Not as the cat who hid. Not as the one who was overlooked. But as the one who survived it all… and still chose love. She deserves a life that isn’t filled with fear. A life where she can step out of the shadows. A life where she can finally shine. Please don’t let her spend the rest of her years waiting 💔
